Re: Visit by Cr Jim Mason - Thursday 3 March
Counsellor Jim Mason from the City of Greater Geelong was welcomed to the Bellarine Keen-Agers Table Tennis Club We certainly appreciated Counsellor Mason for making the time to visit us, to have a bit of a hit of table tennis and to meet many of our members, now totaling 49. We are working on getting our numbers back to what we had at the end of last year, being 62.
Our Club is very fortunate that we have an excellent relationship with the City of Greater Geelong. We have been using this Hall now since mid-2018 and since the City took over the direct management of the Hall, all aspects of our relationship, from the hall booking process right through to any issue resolution, has been excellent.
Last year, once again the City of Greater Geelong again released their Healthy and Connected Communities Grant Program. We submitted our Proposal for a total of $2,000 which would be used to purchase replacement table tennis tables and some ancillary equipment (club bats and balls). We were successful with our submission and we now have three new Blue Devil tables in use. Each one has had plaque attached, acknowledging the City of Greater Geelong.
We are certainly most appreciative of the City of Greater Geelong for enabling the Bellarine Keen-Agers to be a repeat recipient of this Grant, as we were also successful in 2019, for a Grant of $1,560 which went towards the cost of having the nets and cabling infrastructure installed.
We certainly thanked Jim, for the support of the City of Greater Geelong. Their help enables our Club, our members all of which are over 50 years old, the opportunity; the venue; and the equipment to continue to have fun; make friends; be active; and enjoy our table tennis.
