Hot Weather Guidelines

Hot Weather Guidelines
As summer approaches we anticipate there will, as usual, be some very hot days when we are playing Table Tennis.
We are fortunate that Marcus Hill Hall has efficient cooling with both fans and air-conditioners. However, it is important to remember to drink plenty of water and to take a break if you are feeling the effects of the heat.
Vic Sport is encouraging sporting organisations to develop ‘Hot Weather Guidelines’ and consequently we have developed a practical list of actions for the Bellarine Keen-Agers which is listed below:
• Remind members at the start of play on HOT days to be mindful of the conditions and seek assistance if required.
• Encourage members to drink more water before and during play.
• Have jugs of cold water readily available.
• Ensure there are ice blocks and ice pack in freezer.
• Ensure fans and air conditioning are switched on before the hall heats up.
• Provide a cooling towel to anyone showing signs of being affected (in First Aid Kit).
• Ensure First Aid treatment is provided if required.
• NOTE: Carefully monitor anyone showing serious symptoms, as this could be a result of heat exhaustion or very serious heat stroke. Call OOO for assistance or advice if necessary.
