Inaugural Life Member - Bellarine Keen-Agers Table Tennis Club Empty Inaugural Life Member - Bellarine Keen-Agers Table Tennis Club

When we first raised the concept of Life Membership, we needed to determine the criteria for such an award. It was agreed by the Committee that Membership longevity is not to be the only criteria. The key criteria is what the member has contributed to the club over a period of time.

I would like to formally announce that the inaugural recipient of Life Membership with the Bellarine Keen-Agers Table Tennis Club is – Martin Wilson.

Martin is certainly a deserved recipient. Not only has Martin been with our Club since Day 1 in 2013, but even before was with the Portarlington Table Tennis Club, when the idea of forming the Drysdale Club was born. Martin was President of our club for four years and since 2018 has been a member of the Committee. Even now, Martin serves as a Consultant to the current Committee, who draw on his expertise and for undertaking special projects.

Martin is currently President of the Bellarine Peninsula Seniors Activity Hub – Development Committee, who are working with the City of Great Geelong and potential Bellarine Peninsula sporting or activity organisations (involving seniors), to develop a Hub which they can all use. From our perspective, the plans that have been drawn up and submitted to the City of Greater Geelong (and their Consultants) will cater for 10 table tennis courts.

Martin, congratulations on this well-deserved award, which comes with a certificate and shirt pin. I hope you wear this pin with justifiable pride. Well done!

Inaugural Life Member - Bellarine Keen-Agers Table Tennis Club Empty Life Membership - Process for Future Nominations

Post by Graeme Beardwood Fri Mar 05, 2021 6:11 pm

As for the future, any financial Club Member can nominate someone that they believe is deserved of ‘Life Membership.

Their nomination along with their reasons thereof, is to be formally submitted to any member of the current Committee.   We will set a date when all such nominations are to be submitted by.

The Committee will then review all submissions and make a decision as to who receive the ‘Life Membership’ Honour.   Any award announcements will be made at the following AGM

As to the benefits of this status, the Club will pay that member’s TTV fee for all ensuing years.
